Discussion on Libyan literature in Italy held in Tripoli

TRIPOLI (LIBYA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – As part of the third edition of the International Book Fair—organized by the Libyan Public Prosecutor’s Office in Tripoli—a literary discussion took place, titled “The Reception of Libyan Literature in Italy: Between History and Stereotype.” According to a statement released by the event organizers, Professor Elvira Diana—a chair of Arabic Language and Literature at the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara—examined the presence of Libyan literature within the Italian cultural landscape, how it is received, and the perceptions that have taken root among Italian readers. The discussion highlighted how Libyan literary works are still frequently influenced by historical legacies and stereotypical imagery. The event is part of a broader effort to promote cultural exchange, with the aim of opening new horizons for the understanding of Libyan literature and building bridges of communication between Libyan and Italian cultures.
