Egypt signs 20 agreements with South Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia during President al-Sisi’s Asian tour

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Egypt signed 20 agreements and memoranda of understanding with South Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia during President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s Asian tour, which took place from October 6 to 11. The head of state announced this upon his return to Cairo. According to the broadcaster Al Qahera News, the agreements cover various areas of cooperation, with a particular focus on boosting trade and rebalancing the trade balance between Egypt and the three nations.
Al-Sisi thanked South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, the King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for the welcome extended to the Egyptian delegation, noting that the hospitality received reflects Egypt’s international standing and the investment and cooperation opportunities the country offers. The President highlighted the prospects for strategic partnerships with the three countries and the role of Egypt’s developed infrastructure in attracting new investments. He also emphasized the need for rapid follow-up on the agreements reached, given the strong desire for cooperation expressed by the Asian partners.
Priority sectors include the petrochemical and automotive industries, new and renewable energy, agriculture, aquaculture, and nuclear cooperation—including involvement in the El Dabaa power plant, in which South Korea participates in certain activities. Describing the tour as a success, al-Sisi called for the swift implementation of the agreements and thanked the Egyptian people and the delegation that accompanied him during the visit.
