UEFA opens investigation into alleged spitting incident during Ireland vs. Israel match

ROME (ITALPRESS) – UEFA is investigating an alleged spitting incident during the Nations League League B Group 3 match between Ireland and Israel, played on October 4 in Bačka Topola, Serbia, which ended in a 1–1 draw.

Damien Doyle, the Irish national team’s head of athletic performance, reported being spat on by an Israeli player during the match’s halftime interval—an incident subsequently confirmed by head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson.

According to the BBC, UEFA has announced that “an inspector has been appointed to conduct a disciplinary investigation into possible misconduct by the players.”
