61 irregular migrants detained in Eastern Libya

ROME (ITALPRESS) – The Al-Bayda branch of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration in eastern Libya detained 61 irregular migrants of various nationalities during monitoring and patrol operations in the region.

According to a statement posted by the Department on Facebook, those detained included 11 Egyptians, one of whom had hepatitis; five Sudanese, one of whom had hepatitis; 42 Bangladeshis who intended to cross the sea illegally; and three Nigerian women, two of whom were living with HIV.

The Egyptian migrants were repatriated through the Amsaad border crossing, while the others were transferred to a reception center in Benghazi to undergo repatriation procedures.
