Morten Hjulmand set to become a new Atletico Madrid player

MADRID (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – Morten Hjulmand has been in Madrid since yesterday and is set to become an Atletico Madrid player.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the deal for the 27-year-old Danish midfielder, formerly of Lecce, has been completed. Hjulmand is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Colchoneros, including an option for a sixth season.
Sporting Lisbon, who had promised to let the player leave for a fee below his €80 million release clause, will receive a fixed €40 million plus up to €5 million in performance-related bonuses.
Under the agreement, Sporting will earn €750,000 for every block of 30 matches in which Hjulmand plays at least 45 minutes, up to a maximum of €3 million. The remaining €2 million are tied to Atletico’s UEFA Champions League performance: €500,000 for each qualification to the competition, €250,000 for reaching the round of 16, another €250,000 for the quarter-finals, €500,000 for the semi-finals, and a further €500,000 if Atletico reach the final.
