Real Madrid, Mourinho wants Enzo Fernandez to strengthen midfield

MADRID (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – With Michael Olise considered out of reach and Mateus Fernandes reportedly preferring a move to Tottenham, where he would be likely to enjoy more playing time, Real Madrid have turned their attention to Enzo Fernández.

According to Spanish newspaper As, the 25-year-old Argentine midfielder from Chelsea is José Mourinho’s preferred choice to reinforce Real Madrid’s midfield. Despite reports from England suggesting interest in Bouaddi, the young Moroccan midfielder who has impressed at the World Cup and whom Lille value at no less than €70 million, “The Special One” has reportedly urged the club to pursue Fernández, who offers both quality and experience.

However, Chelsea’s recent sale of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid has helped balance the club’s finances, reducing the need for further departures. The Blues paid Benfica €120 million for Fernández and would reportedly only consider selling him for a nine-figure fee, particularly given that the former River Plate player is under contract until 2032.

For his part, Fernández has never hidden his desire to wear the famous white shirt of Real Madrid. In recent months, he openly stated that he would like to live in Madrid, to the extent that then-Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior reportedly left him out of the squad for a couple of matches.
