Varandas “We will only give up Gyokeres on our terms”

Varandas “We will only give up Gyokeres on our terms”

LISBON (PORTUGAL) (ITALPRESS) – “Sporting does not need to sell Gyokeres, we have now overcome that phase in which we had to sell our best players. On the other hand, we are not insensitive to Viktor’s dreams: we have a pact, we will not ask for the clause but a reasonable figure in relation to his performances in the last season”.

Frederico Varandas, president of Sporting, takes stock of the Swedish striker, making it clear that the Leoes are ready to sell him for a figure lower than the termination clause (100 million euros) but not at the sale price.

“If you ask me today, there is a high probability that he will leave. But I have seen a player like Zubimendi, who is six months younger than Viktor, go to Arsenal for 65 million. In the Premier two strikers like Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo, who in my opinion don’t have the quality of Viktor, are being negotiated for 75 million euros. We are talking about 26-year-old players. For this reason, given our requests, I believe that in the end he could leave unless he has the worst agent in the world”. Varandas does not go into details of the figures.

“I won’t say how much we’re asking for, his agent knows, but I can guarantee that he won’t leave for 60 million plus 10 – the reference to the words of the player’s agent – There are two possibilities: either those who are interested pay what Viktor is worth on the market or they don’t really want him and Viktor, who still has three years of his contract, stays here”.

However, the Swede threatens not to show up for training. “I’ve been in football for 20 years and I’ve experienced many market dramas – Varandas replies – Closing the market is the cure for all evils. Unhappy players are not a problem. If Viktor stays, it won’t be a problem for us, it will be a problem for the opponents”.

According to the French press, the European champion club has anticipated the completion of the payment, thus helping Lyon to improve their accounts: a gesture that could change the fate of rivals who have appealed against the decision of the DNCG (National Directorate of Control and Management) to relegate the team to Ligue 2 given their financial situation.

Napoli’s pressure for Nunez continues, Liverpool’s demands are high

Napoli’s pressure for Nunez continues, Liverpool’s demands are high

LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Darwin Nunez is ready to embrace the Napoli project but if Liverpool do not lower their requests it will be tough. According to the “Mirror“, the Neapolitans have put the operation on hold in front of the evaluation of the Reds, who are asking for 70 million pounds, over 80 million euros.

And yet the 26-year-old Uruguayan striker has never been a first choice of Arne Slot, who in the season that ended with the conquest of the Premier League fielded him as a starter in the league just 8 times. This is also why Napoli are trying to play it low, considering a proposal of 50 million pounds (58 million euros) more appropriate.

Among other things, Liverpool, without the sale of Nunez, would not be able to go for players like Isak or Ekitike, who Slot would prefer to have in the squad rather than the former Benfica, while on the Neapolitan side they are waiting to resolve the future of Osimhen, who has returned from his loan at Galatasaray and from whose sale the funds would come to perhaps raise the offer to Liverpool.
