Nunez disputed between Barcelona, Milan and Saudi Arabia

LIVERPOOL (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – The transfer of Liverpool striker Darwin Nuñez to Napoli has been definitively shelved, which is why other clubs are now evaluating whether to make this type of investment in the Uruguayan striker. The Reds are open to a sale, but – according to CaughtOffside – the asking price is €70 million. The strongest interest comes from Saudi Pro League clubs Al Hilal and Al Nassr. However, Barcelona and AC Milan remain interested in the 26-year-old.

UNESCO warns Malta: Valletta at risk without policy reforms

UNESCO warns Malta: Valletta at risk without policy reforms

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – A UNESCO committee has found that Malta’s current planning policies do not adequately protect Valletta’s World Heritage status and urged the government to take immediate action.

Following a recent meeting, the United Nations body responsible for heritage protection cited “urban development in and around Valletta” as an ongoing concern. The committee stated that existing regulations “do not sufficiently safeguard” the city’s historical value.

UNESCO recommended Malta revise several key documents: the 2006 North Harbour Local Plan, the 2022 Grand Harbour Plan, and the policy regulating building heights.

Height restrictions should be introduced in and around Valletta, particularly north of the capital facing Manoel Island—an area noted for its “high development potential.” A comprehensive heritage impact assessment was also advised for Manoel Island’s 2021 master plan.

The Evans Building near Fort St Elmo, recently earmarked for a luxury tourism project, was flagged for needing an updated conservation plan. This follows local backlash over a 65-year concession granted to a private developer.

UNESCO acknowledged Malta’s recent efforts—including a draft management plan and impact assessments—but insisted “further improvements are needed,” especially in managing development and tourism.

An updated conservation report is due by December 2026 for review at UNESCO’s 49th session.

Malta, Zucchero sets music festival ablaze with electrifying show

Malta, Zucchero sets music festival ablaze with electrifying show

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Italian music legend Zucchero lit up the Għaxaq Music Festival on Thursday night with a performance bursting with energy, soul, and showmanship. Playing to a jam-packed crowd, the 69-year-old Grammy-nominated artist delivered hit after hit in a set that had fans singing, clapping, and dancing from start to finish.

Cheers erupted the moment Zucchero stepped onto the stage, trademark hat in place, leading his top-tier band with effortless charisma. From the upbeat Vedo Nero — complete with a crowd-thrilling drum solo — to the romantic sway of Il Volo, the singer masterfully moved through a repertoire that spanned decades.

A standout moment came during Facile, featuring a powerhouse duet with his backing singer, whose voice soared alongside Zucchero’s in perfect harmony. Audience members were treated to hazy stage lights in rich shades of purple and red, swept along by a welcome breeze on the warm summer night.

The crowd erupted for the hilariously titled Solo una sana e consapevole libidine…, eagerly singing along as Zucchero leaned into the front row with microphone in hand. The infectious Baila (Sexy Thing)had everyone on their feet, and Dune Mosse paid tribute to Miles Davis with a soulful trumpet solo.

One of the evening’s most moving moments was Miserere, a virtual duet with the late Luciano Pavarotti, whose voice and image filled the screen in a stirring tribute. Later, while Zucchero briefly stepped off stage, his band shone with covers like Nutbush City Limits and Honky Tonk Train Blues.

Returning with a roar from the crowd, Zucchero closed with fan-favorite Diavolo In Me, before delivering an emotional encore of Senza Una Donna, ending the night in a blaze of fireworks and the heartfelt words: “Viva Malta!”.

Zucchero will return to Italy this September with seven special concerts at the Arena di Verona to celebrate his 70th birthday. The celebrations will continue in October as he takes his tour to the United States for six highly anticipated performances.

Everton make offer for Douglas Luiz

Everton make offer for Douglas Luiz

LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Douglas Luiz’s future, after just one season, may lie far from Italy. According to TEAMtalk, the Brazilian Juventus midfielder has been targeted by Everton, who have already submitted an offer to sign the 27-year-old.

Luiz arrived at Juventus last summer for €50 million on a five-year contract, so the Turin club’s asking price is reportedly around €30-35 million. Currently, the English club is offering the player on loan with an obligation to buy, but there’s still a gap between supply and demand. Aston Villa—the club from which Juventus acquired him—and West Ham are also interested in him.

Barcelona, work on the new Camp Nou is delayed

Barcelona, work on the new Camp Nou is delayed

BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – Work on Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou stadium is progressing slowly, and the Spanish press is raising concerns about the Catalan club’s upcoming fixtures.

According to “AS,” the Joan Gamper Trophy, which includes a friendly against Como on August 10, will not be held at the large stadium that usually hosts Barcelona’s matches, nor at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc, the venue for the club’s recent home matches. Therefore, the test against Como, also on August 10, is expected to take place at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

Work is currently in full swing at the Spotify Camp Nou: the goal is to complete everything and obtain the necessary permits in time to be able to play the 2025-26 La Liga matchday four match against Valencia at the renovated stadium on September 14.
