Villarreal fans protest the signing of Thomas Partey

Villarreal fans protest the signing of Thomas Partey

VILA REAL (SPAGNA) (ITALPRESS) – No a Thomas Partey.

BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – The new Camp Nou will finally be able to reopen its doors, albeit with a reduced capacity, even lower than initially planned. According to the Catalan press, the local administration has authorized the club to open the stadium with a capacity of 27,000 spectators, compared to the 60,000 initially planned. This capacity will be reached in a third phase—the next step will be 45,000—with the goal of reaching 105,000 spectators within a year. At this point, the Blaugrana team could return to play at their stadium on September 14, for the league match against Valencia.

Leao is an option for Tottenham after Son goodbye

Leao is an option for Tottenham after Son goodbye

LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Having bid farewell to a legend like Son and with Maddison expected to face a lengthy layoff, Tottenham are preparing to return to the transfer market to strengthen their attack. According to “Give me Sport,” Rafael Leao is also among the options on the table, who liked the post about the arrival of his compatriot Palhinha at Spurs.

This is currently a remote possibility given the costs of acquiring the AC Milan striker, while Rodrygo, currently on his way from Real Madrid, could be more accessible. Other names on the table include Jack Grealish – but Manchester City is expected to cover part of his wages – and Alejandro Garnacho, now separated at United.

De Bruyne believes in Napoli “Strong team, Scudetto is our goal”

De Bruyne believes in Napoli “Strong team, Scudetto is our goal”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “There were other options, but after talking to my wife and children, I thought to myself that this was the best. I weighed up all the factors: work and life, career and future. Besides, it’s the team that won the league, an incredible team, and having faced them in the Champions League, I know what it feels like: I know the fans, their passion and their support. So Napoli gave me the best feeling.”

Interviewed by “Corriere dello Sport,” Kevin De Bruyne explains why he chose to continue his career with the Neapolitans after leaving City. The Belgian is still hungry: “What would I like my 25th title to be? Probably the scudetto. Having never played in Italy, the championship would be a great goal. We hope to finish as high as possible on all fronts, but it depends on many situations: opponents, injuries, and other factors. You have to base the end of your season on what happens during the season. I want to win everything, of course, but I know it’s very difficult and I know that you just have to work relentlessly. As individuals and as a team. Push as hard as you can and in the end we’ll see what the result will be.”

Napoli, he assures, is a “strong team, with a lot of quality: last year, after all, the boys won the Scudetto, but obviously this year will be a new challenge, and winning again will be difficult. However, I think we can achieve good things: I came for this, because I believe in this team. It has a good structure and a good coach. And they are excellent foundations.”

Pro-Palestine protest held outside Maccabi Tel Aviv match in Malta

Pro-Palestine protest held outside Maccabi Tel Aviv match in Malta

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS) – A pro-Palestine protest was held Tuesday evening outside the Tony Bezzina Stadium in Corradino, where Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv faced Ħamrun Spartans in a UEFA Europa League qualifier.

Activists from groups including Watermelon Warriors, Ġustizzja għall-Palestina, Lebanese Advocates, and Moviment Graffitti gathered to denounce Israel’s participation in international sport amid ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Chanting slogans such as “Palestine will be free” and “Israel is a terrorist state,” protesters waved Palestinian flags and held signs calling for Israeli football teams to be banned from global competitions.

“Hosting this match sends a dangerous message of impunity whilst Gaza faces genocide,” organisers said in a joint statement.

Heavy police presence and roadblocks kept protesters several metres away from the stadium. All matchgoers were frisked at the checkpoint and had to walk the final stretch to the venue.

Despite the controversy, no Israeli supporters attended the game, leaving the away stand empty. The protest remained peaceful throughout, with no reported incidents. The game ended in a 2-1 victory for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Malta, heavy police presence at Hamrun–Maccabi match tonight

Malta, heavy police presence at Hamrun–Maccabi match tonight

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – A strong police presence and a planned protest are expected tonight outside the Tony Bezzina Stadium as Hamrun Spartans take on Maccabi Tel Aviv in a high-tension UEFA Europa League qualifier. Security measures have been stepped up despite only 50 away fans travelling from Israel, with the Maltese authorities deploying officers in anticipation of public unrest.

The match has drawn criticism from activist groups, and one of them organised a protest outside the stadium. The group cites “ethical concerns” and points to previous violent incidents involving Maccabi supporters in cities like Amsterdam and Athens. The fixture was relocated to Paola after the pitch at Ta’ Qali’s National Stadium was deemed unfit. The match is crucial for Hamrun Spartans, with progression guaranteeing a place in the UEFA Conference League group stage.
