Middle East, Egypt: “Commitment to peace and the two-state solution”

CAIRO (EGYPT) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – One year after the Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit, Egypt reaffirms its commitment to consolidating peace in the Middle East and promoting a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the two-state solution.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cairo renews its full support for US President Donald Trump’s efforts to implement the peace plan for Gaza and confirms its commitment to coordinating with Washington and with regional and international partners to consolidate the ceasefire, ensure the continuous flow of humanitarian aid, complete the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and launch the second phase of the plan, including early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Egypt also emphasizes the need to seize the opportunity presented by the plan to initiate a credible political process, address the root causes of the conflict, and prevent further escalations.

The goal is a just and lasting peace, based on the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, while respecting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the security of all peoples in the region.
