RABAT (MOROCCO (ITALPRESS) – Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) has foiled two terrorist attacks, in an advanced stage of preparation, involving extremists operating with logistical and operational support from the Islamic State terrorist branch in the Sahel region. The Moroccan news agency MAP reported this, specifying that several simultaneous operations were conducted yesterday morning by special forces.

The cities involved were Agadir, Taroudant, Casablanca, El Hajeb, Tetouan, Fquih Ben Salah, and Safi. The operations led to the arrest of ten extremists, as well as the seizure of bladed weapons, military uniforms, and manuscripts containing detailed descriptions of methods for manufacturing explosive devices. A vehicle with a tank modified to run on butane gas was also found in a warehouse in the city of Inezgane. Investigators believe the intent was to use it to carry out a terrorist act against sensitive targets and infrastructure.
